Back to school shopping can be easy and fun

Getting teenagers ready to go back to school may seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be a stressful event.

The biggest issue a parent may encounter when shopping for their child may come down to clothing. Teens don't like having their parents pick out items for them to wear, and a parent may not be too happy with what their kid has selected.

Opening the lines of communication may work best. Letting a teenager know what is acceptable beforehand could lead in them in the right direction should they go shopping on their own. Setting boundaries like no mid-drift bearing tops, short skirts or baggy pants helps identify what is appropriate.

If going shopping with your teen, let them pick out clothing, but provide feedback. This will make the process easier for the both of you, and they won't feel embarrassed by a parent picking out their clothing.
