The holidays means there is increased family time and more socializing. Everyone wants to get together and celebrate, making it the perfect time to try out a new perfume, or even find one for a loved one.

Sometimes trying something can be liberating, even if it's just a new scent. One should first narrow down what kinds of scents appeal to them most. Once they have that narrowed down they can begin to sample the wide range or perfumes and colognes on the market.

It is best to sample before buying. Going to a store and using the testers is the best way to do this. Do not try more than two scents per visit as your skin absorbs each smell differently and if they mix you may not get the full effect.

For gifts, it is best if you are already familiar with the type of smell that particular person likes. It will make it much easier when it comes to selecting the right scent. Go with a smaller bottle as a gift just in case it isn't exactly what they prefer.
