Quick Buck: How To Quickly Earn And Save Extra Money
Saving money isn’t always about the big splashes--it can be just as easy as finding sell-able items around the houseWho doesn’t want to make the proverbial “fast buck?”
If saving money is something you’re interested in (and who isn’t, quite frankly), you’re always thinking of ways to save, whether you’re dissecting your budget or contemplating your next move from a work standpoint, bucking for that promotion or seeing if another job might give you more financial flexibility.
But beyond changing jobs, you might be in the market for something a little faster and without such implications and ramifications of a job change might. Trying to save more money is the goal, but you can’t make a job change in a matter of a few days.
So how exactly can you start saving right away?
If you’re looking to build your savings account sooner than later, you can focus on smaller goals versus the ones that are life-changing decisions (i.e., job change, selling your home and downsizing or taking the bus to work and ditching the car and all that goes with it).
How about selling things around the house?
A friend of mine decided that, at 47 years of age, he no longer needed his Lord of the Rings statues or Terminator 2: Judgement Day figures and decided to sell them online, along with some NFL memorabilia as well. He has been struggling mightily with a separation from his wife and what once was a shared mortgage and bills has now fallen on his shoulders. This is a person who would buy a handful of DVDs the moment they’d come out, and still does so.
He completely changed his buying habits by saying so long to DVD Tuesday (new release day typically) and made nearly $2,000 on selling his collectibles.
You also can take the same approach with your closet and clothing: style can be so subjective depending on the buyer, so you can start cleaning out your wardrobe and selling your clothes, either online or at a consignment shop, for example. The shop takes in your old clothes and calls you when they sell so you can collect your money.
As far as your budget goes, try replacing some of the items on it. Get a better rate on insurance for your car, bundle it with your home or start thinking about a lesser expensive cell phone plan and carrier or pair down your cable television package and start streaming.
Saving money isn’t always about the big splashes as you can make just as many waves with a ripple effect of a few smaller moves that start leading to bigger and better financial decisions.
