Remember when all you heard in the news were stories about the struggles of individuals looking to find jobs? It seems that the labor market is gaining back its momentum, thanks to U.S. companies' efforts to employ more workers this year.
Data released by ADP Employer Services showed 179,000 jobs were added in April alone, according to Bloomberg. For the U.S. Department of Labor, that number is higher at 200,000. Besides increase in job employment, U.S. employers are also making less job cuts from the previous year. Chicago-based Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc.'s report stated that employee layoffs decreased 4.8 percent to 36,490 compared to last year.
This is definitely good news to many who are still struggling to find a decent way to earn a living. However, some think that the growth is too slow for the still-struggling economy to really benefit from.
"This pace keeps things moving forward but not at a strong enough growth rate to really, really improve labor market conditions and improve the economy," said economist Steven Richhiuto to the news outlet.
